When it comes to cleaning pet hair, nothing is more annoying than having a vacuum cleaner that doesn’t do it’s job and leaves hair everywhere. With the Dyson DC25 Animal vacuum cleaner you won’t have to worry about this at all. With it’s tremendous suction capability, great pet tools, and effective cleaning system, the DC25 Animal is one of the best vacuums you can currently buy for pet hair.
Our Dyson DC25 Animal Vacuum Review
Suction Power
There is perhaps nothing that makes a Dyson stand out more than it’s suction power, and the DC25 Animal is no exception – even with its loud purple color, the most common feature that customers point out is the suction power. The Animal produces 220 Air Watts of suction power (which is a lot), which means you will be able to pick up even the smallest dirt / dust in the thickest pile carpets. This is also very important for pet hair, as you need to have great suction and great tools in order to get it all.
Suction power on hard wood floors is tremendous – one of the strongest you can get. However, this suction comes with a price. The vacuum lowers the base by itself when switched to the hard-wood floor setting. While this creates greater suction power, it also can be a little annoying if you need to pick up larger items like cereal (cheerios, etc) because the mouth of the vacuum is too low, so you have to tilt the vacuum a little bit or use the extension hose to pick them up. However, for dust and pet hair you will have no issues at all (and this goes for delicate rugs as well since you can turn off the beater brush and just use the suction power).
Ease of Use
One of the coolest functions added to vacuum cleaners is the ‘ball technology’ used in the Dyson DC25 Animal Ball Vacuum (also used in the All Floors model). The ball may take about 2 minutes to get used to, but you will love it afterwards as it makes maneuvering the vacuum so much easier (and fun). Combine that with how light weight the vacuum is (16.12 pounds is all), and you have a very easy to use vacuum cleaner with a lot of power. In addition, we like how easy it is to switch from carpets to floors, and the fact that you don’t have to adjust the height setting yourself, as that is done automatically for you (and done well we might add).
When looking at picking up pet hair, the DC25 Animal is different from the DC25 All Floors only because you get a pet hair attachment tool. However, this rotating brush tool does a tremendous job with pet hair on upholstery and stairs, and is a must if you have animals that shed.
Their are, however, a few things that we don’t like about the design of the Animal DC25. First, the cord is a little short (24.6 ft). While this makes the vacuum light, it can be slightly annoying to have to find a new plug in each room you vacuum. The other issue we have was mentioned above – we wish there was another height setting for hardwood floors so we could pick up the cherrios my Son and Daughter spill every morning
.
Filtration
The filtration of the Animal by Dyson is tremendous, which we think is a very big plus for pet owners. No, it’s not as good as the Miele, but you get a 100% sealed system with true HEPA filtration. If you have alergies or just don’t like smelling dog or cat hair everywhere after you vacuum, then you will love the filters. In addition, you don’t have to replace them – they are lifetime and washable, which cuts down on the cost over time.
Bottom Line
You can see from all the positive Dyson DC25 Animal reviews how popular this vacuum is, and for good reason. If you have a lot of carpet and pets, then this would be one of the highest recommended vacuums for your situation.
